Basildon School Visit

To celebrate this year’s UN World Environment Day at the beginning of June, our team at TotalWM decided to continue with the celebratory theme within our local community (which last year saw us head out into Epping Forest to undertake some much needed litter picking) and meet the pupils at St Anne Line Catholic Infant School in Basildon.

We spread the word around the importance of recycling and asked them if they knew what it was (they absolutely knew!), what the benefits were and what the consequences might be if we didn't do it.

The KS1 children and staff responded magnificently, providing some highly intelligent responses to the initial questions posed to them. They also helped to sort a vast amount of materials that needed to be separated into their respective containers for their household waste kerbside collections and looked at the type of products that some of these recycled items become.

To finish up our talk, we gave the children packets of seeds and challenged them to grow the tallest sunflowers possible!

It was lovely to see how passionate and enthusiastic the children were on the subject of recycling and we very much look forward to seeing the results of their sunflower challenge and how tall these tiny seeds become.
