Epping Primary School visit

To celebrate this year’s UN World Environment Day at the beginning of June, our team at TotalWM decided to continue with the celebratory theme within our local community (which last year saw us
head out into Epping Forest to undertake some much needed litter picking) and engage with Epping Primary School.

We spread the word around the importance of recycling and set the children a challenge to grow the tallest sunflower.

Epping operates a co-mingled clear recycling bag collection so we set the children tasks to see if they knew which of our objects could be recycled from home.

The KS1 children were brilliant! We were so impressed at how knowledgable they were, and how enthusiatically they discussed the benefits and of recycling and why it is such a key issue in our world.

We also mixed things up with a Recycling Song, which the children enjoyed very much (who doesn't enjoy a sing-song).

To finish up our talk, we gave the children packets of seeds and challenged them to grow the tallest sunflowers possible!

It was lovely to see how passionate and enthusiastic the children were on the subject of recycling and we very much look forward to seeing the results of their sunflower challenge and how tall these tiny seeds become.
